Music o' the Entry: "Lu:na", Gackt

Oy all, just woke up after napping following the immeasurable pleasure of awakening at 4 o'clock in the morn to take Miho to the airport, on her way to New York, where I didn't know she was going until...yesterday. Good thing we got her there early, the ticket processor cheerfully informed us that her flight from Chicago to Syracuse didn't exist, despite that we called to check yesterday...YARG. But all is well, she's just taking a slightly more scenic route that includes Washington D.C. as well now. It was sad, she was crying pretty much as soon as we left when my father hugged her and me, being all nice and hormonal, started crying at the airport as well. Yes, we all suck like that. But everything appears to be going well, hopefully she'll dig Syracuse and New York. I told her to be sure to visit the Lower East Side so she could dig on the Yiddish for me and to eat lots of avowedly tasty New York pizza (going by Lauren's recommendation, as I've never had the pleasure of visiting that sector of the US), but I think we went to Eatza Pizza one too many times when she was here...heck, *I* even overdid it on pizza for the time being, which is rather amazing. Oddly not so much in quantity but in frequency...how very unusual. So yeah, I'm a bit sad about Miho being gone, her reaction upon leaving did not help, not wanting to leave...I know exactly how you feel, and unfortunately you didn't lose your plane tickets to (quite fortunately) alleviate your sadness. Poor girl, she kept on saying how she didn't want to leave and wanted to join my family. Ha, my mother was talking about her showing her all these pictures where she was drunk...yeah, I'm gonna miss Miho, I hope she likes her CD that I rather hastily assembled. It's rather hideous, when I prepare someone a CD I generally make a sticker that all nice and pretty to cover the nasty writable CD top but I did this on such short notice...oh well, I'll have to give her a call tonight.

In preparation for my upcoming vile horde of approaching mathematics, I've been checking out prices on assorted graphing calculators. Last night a humour took me and I decided that while I was price searching I should also take the opportunity to look at prices for Matt's birthday present, the Final Fantasy XI OST, despite the fact that Matt's birthday is October 8th. So I was at J-pop Help, the first place I've ever seen that chronically offers both legit and bootleg versions of CD's and very often has copies of the limited editions. Interestingly, they had the limited version of the FFXI OST (Gamemusic.com, my general source for such materials, was long out) but I decided against it because Matt always speaks of how he regrets getting the first pressing edition of the FFVIII OST because it's falling apart. However, as I was about to purchase, I remembered that I had a 500-yen coupon from CD-Japan because I've spent so much money there over the past five years or so I should get a bloody scholarship or some such, but for now the coupon will have to suffice. Anyway, I received it a couple of weeks ago and it was to expire Sept. 30th, and I was a bit disappointed because I'm saving my money and don't have cash to blow on random CD's I want (or else I'd have a lot more CD's) so I couldn't use it. So I figured this was the perfect opportunity to use it and be glad and all that, you know? Until I discounted something: the stipulation was the order had be at least 3000 yen, and the OST was 2800 or some such. Which meant to redeem the coupon, I had to somehow increase my order volume, which I promptly did in the forms of hyde's "ROENTGEN" and Gackt's "Moon" albums. Yes, I suck, but it's okay, because they're for Christmas...and now that I think about it, I probably should've snagged a Hajime Chitose CD as well...oh well, whatever, it's still a decent haul and I'm pleased with myself for my stunning dual justification of both coupon and shipping prices (of which CD-Japan, despite their speed, requests one or internal organs, preferably kidneys and/or chunks of liver). Plus they're ridiculously awesome CD's, I officially adore both "Doomsday" and "Fragrance" from the Gackt court (working on "Lu:na") and "NEW DAYS DAWN" and "The Cape of Storms" from hyde's. Actually, speaking of Gackt, I think next time I go to Japan there shall be much rummaging of used CD shops in a valiant effort to locate copies of both MARS and Rebirth, as only having the MD kinda sucks due to lack of MD player. Hooray piracy-centric recorded music mediums. So yes, much future CD happiness is me, along with the release of Squaredance come October 10th or so.

So I was over at Lyn's today and being the independent story fan that I am, I took her Karma Slave test, coming out with this result:

the businessman

You've even got a secret collection of Beanie Babies...

Which Karma Slave character are you most like? No doubt you cannot live without the answer.

Spiffy, ain't it? Reminds me, I should revive my Illurian Wars selector to reflect all the changes that I made, particularly the addition of Jana Novakova (yay ridiculously-heavy-quasi-ripped-off Czech influence), the chemist/theological astronomer chick with an awesome apron. Yes, apron, it 0wNz0rZ.

The other day I was gazing at the ol' Sitemeter and saw something quite peculiar...I had about 30 or so consecutive visits from AOL, featuring relatively numerous page views for quite a while with the visits between seconds, and I didn't understand it at all. Anybody know anything about this? Quite puzzling, that.

So Misha came over last night, as I was attempting to see her before she romps back over to Japan, and I was quite enjoyed to see her. I got to see Japan pictures, spoke of Japan...blimey, it's been over a year since I went. What's up with that? Oh, right, reality, silly little thing. Anyway, it was nice, because I can't do that with anyone else and Miho's presence and everything has made me a bit nostalgic, as I seem so easily able to do (I think this is capitalized by my ability to adamantly refuse to live in the present, though I seem to have made progress and am relatively living in the now). Oddly though I hadn't heard it until recently, Miss Chitose's "Wadatsumi no Ki" sends me reeling hardcore into nostalgia mode for no apparent reason. From what I can understand of the song (I haven't tried to translate it nor look at any), it seems to be about her island home and missing it...but anyway, enjoyed talking to Misha for the time she was here, and am looking to forward to watching Ring sometime as well as hearing about her future grand Kyoto adventures.

But anyway, it's about lunchtime around these parts, so I'm off. Good day, all. Oh, one last thing: the ever-smashing Bianca has a new diary up and she's doing Kyoto this time, so be sure to check out the place at Gion.

PS: Kate, my precalc class actually IS at 11:00, but that doesn't necessarily mean we have the same one because they have like thirty of the things. I'm in section four, if I'm not mistaken. You?
