I suppose I truly should update more, given that in two months school will be back in session for me and I'll be painfully busy, between work and frantically trying to get in enough credits to graduate in two years instead of three more so I can happily trot off to Japan again for a few decades or so. So I will, though not so much happens to me during the summer, given the fact that over the past year I've morphed into a sort of hermit, which doesn't really bother me too much, though it makes for much less exciting entries 'round these parts. And because it's relatively late at night and I have parents sleeping in the room that borders mine, I must be silent.

So anyway, about the latest in mine assault on Final Fantasy VIII. I'm not too far from where I last was, though I'm about to go lay some smackdown on Lunatic Pandora, which has been dubbed the Muslim Borg ship by me, despite the fact that the only thing terribly Borg-like about it is that it's a flying geometrically-shaped...quasi-building-esque...thing. As for the Muslim part, that's thanks to the seal of Esthar on it. Lunatic Pandora is one of those parts of FFVIII that confuses me, it reeks vaguely of deus ex machina-ness, though not as much as the Ragnarok. Actually, I lied, Lunatic Pandora makes PERFECT sense when compared to the paragon of the quality of being a deus ex machina sort of thing that is the Ragnarok. I mean, seriously, Rinoa and Squall are sort of "Doo de doo de doo" floating through the void of space and all (which when you think of it, is a ridiculously awful way to die. I imagine madness would accompany it.) when wonder of wonders, a relatively dead spaceship waltzes onto the screen. Sigh. But anyway, now that I'm rather close to the end of the game, I'm embarking on that wonder of wonders, that pilgrimage hopeless nerds like myself MUST endure: maxing out. And man, is Cactuar Island fun for GF's. So now on my list of things to do is: collect all GF's; the Card Queen Quest; max out GF's; max out characters; and collect ultimate weapons. Not necessarily in that order, though, as my attempt to acquire Bahamut resulted in his wiping the floor with me. But on another FFVIII note: Laguna is the president of Esthar?! Yeah, yeah, I know he explained it, but...I mean, I like Laguna, but he's kind of a big goofy dork, you know? And again, how is this man Squall's FATHER? I mean, I know boinking Raine is certainly how it resulted, but still...I mean, Squall himself has either described or told Laguna to his face that he's a moron/dork/silly/etc...it's just nutty. But I think I like it, I'm a Junction whore (to a point), it's just the story is still a bit...hen, with Lunatic Pandora randomly cruising about, monsters descending from the moon in a creepy fashion and the strange alteration of physics thereof that I'm choosing not to think about and whatnot...yes, I think I'll be sad to see FFVIII end, despite that the experience just had a different feel than the usual Final Fantasy game.

As for the odd new quote on the titlebar, blame it on Legend of Mana, which uncontestably has the weirdest character designs ever, perhaps and ever shall. For instance, take the character of Basket Fish. Basket Fish, is, as his name implies, a Fish sitting atop a legged basket. This is body. Does anyone else feel the insanity here? And to make it even stranger, one must calculate that despite their varied and/or bizarre forms, all of these things are reportedly HUMAN. Remember kids, crack is bad. However, from this insanity rises a couple of things that thrill my soul. First and foremost, the character known as Li'l Cactus. According to his in-game profile, he is "A shy little cactus. He is a cactus of few words, though he is thinking of many things." In addition to this, he's also frighteningly cute. I was actually squealing at the television, which is why it was frightening. Blimey, I wish I had a screencap or such...seriously, this thing is CUTE. I'll find something, fret not. And I really want to find a copy of the music that plays in Lumina, it's a lot creepier for a city of eternal night than is that one in Final Fantasy IX whose name presently escapes me...

But as much as I'd delight to write about something other than games, I become sleepy, and I have a relatively long day ahead of me: cleaning room (right now I have to jump over things to get from one part to another, which is bad because my room's the smallest in the house), longest workday of week, and then once I get off at 10:00 or so, going with Matt to his hometown(s) and stay with his family until Friday afternoon. So yeah, it's bedtime. But before that, a couple of words from me about food I like, because I really like food, even if it destroys my soul most of the time. #1) I like pizza. No, seriously. I REALLY REALLY like pizza. A lot. Which makes me really wonder what I'm going to do in Japan, land of notorious poor/expensive/disturbing pizzas. But I think my insane love of this food has something to do with my nigh-obsessive love of cheese, which is possibly on par with my love of the Weather Channel. #2) I also really really like Silk Chocolate Soymilk. Seriously, I've drunk about a quart of the stuff today. And from my taste-testing, Silk is by far the best brand for your chocolate soymilk needs, though I'd recommend others if you're going for the vanilla or quasi-milk flavour experiences. And #3) I also fallen madly in love with these low-fat sausages that...I'm not sure what they're made of. They're either entirely made of some sort of soy construct or they're a combo of soy and actual meat...the consistency is distinctly un-meat-like, but they're tasty so it's all good fun. The brand here is Swift, and it'd be just dandy if it's soy because soy has been very good to me, for it has given me tasty veggie burgers and soy milk so I don't have to drink tea all the time. Not that there's anything wrong with tea, mind you, but I need SOMETHING once in a while...but anyway, sadly long tangent, so I'm off. Good night all, be back in a few days.

PS: The term "Toothy Mcvaginamouth" makes me laugh like a psycho. You can thank the current issue of EGM for that, which I'm surprised such a statement got into. Oh, and Malice Mizer still rocks. Ye gods I love my merveilles album.
