Music o' The Entry: "traveling", Hikaru Utada

Hoy minna, be proud, I'm writing and it's actually not a completely ungodly hour of the day. Yeah, I'm doing fine from last night's...whatever the hell last night was (please read the previous entry if you're confused, link's at the bottom of this page)...more than a little disappointed and kicking myself for being so bloody impatient, but there's little I can do about it, I suppose. Hey, at least I didn't call Soba, right? Then again, he wouldn't have been home, 'specially on a Saturday eve..but anyways, on to other things. First: surveyness taken from Allorien who took it from someone else! Yosh!

About Mineself...

Name: Shosetsu

Translation: Depends. Actually, it should be spelled "Shousetsu", but I prefer the other spelling, it's Japanese for "novel." However, Sho(u), a name apart from my Internet alias as well as the character himself, and one of my forthcoming new middle names, has the kanji for "scar", also read "kizu."

Call Me: Shosetsu or Sho is just fine ^_^

Other Aliases: Occasionally Seifaiden, my actual name, the Japanese version of my name, and That American Girl Who Always Hangs Around the Japanese Students.

Age: 17, ya-freaking-tta.

Birthdate: January 17th, same as Full from Nookicky/Guniw Tools =D

Astrological Sign: Capricorn by Western reckoning, a Rat by Eastern

Element: For my sign, earth. Though I personally think water'd be more appropriate.

Blood Type: I don't actually know, so our estimate is going to be based on the high scientific theory of Japanese blood-type personalities: AB, the weirdo's.

Gemstone: Garnet

Hair Color: Red on top, black on bottom

Eye Color: Blue

Height: 5'6"

Weight: DIE. Okay, it's more than I'd like (seeing as I'd like to have the sharpest protruding pelvic bones in the nation), but it's still...passable, I suppose, I don't abhor going out in public anymore.

Personal Stuff...

Religion: Agnostic

Denomination: My family attends the Church of Christ, thus I'm member by association...I'm sure they love having a heretic AND an apostate in their midst.

Sexual Orientation: Bi, though mostly leans towards hetero.

Status: Single

Best Friend: I have a number, both online and off, but I'll just talk about the offline ones: Bronde, Bak-chan, Yuri, Brown-Haired Adam, and Misha.

Occupation: High school/college student.

Likes: Visual kei, transvestites, pretty Asian boys, RPG's and strategy RPG's, manga, anime, playing the piano and euphonium, singing, karaoke, yakisoba, melon soda, Japanese (sometimes), a motley assortment of little Japanese boys, international phone cards, exchange studentage, Japan, traveling, rain, Louisiana, mayonnaise, chocolate, soy milk, weird 80's & 60's stuff, balalaikas and mandolins, cephalopods, Cirque du Soleil, Angel Sanctuary, foreign languages, Chinese food, accents, regional dialects, college, socialism, unnatural hair colours, yaoi, Chu-Hi, angst, cemeteries

Dislikes: High school, homophobes and racists who need to die, "America Strikes Back" ::plays Star Wars music::, snow, ulcers, hypoglycemia, calories, own body, math, assholes, capitalism, imperialism, religion being crammed down one's throat, Dr. Laura, Bush, marching in band, applying to institutes of higher education, fundies, Morning Musume, pre-manufactured "music" and the "musicians", jingoism

ICQ: 18676170

AIM: Seifaiden

Current Desktop: Angel Sanctuary! Lots of pretty wing feathers...

Mp3s: Less than 100

Favourite...

Color: Didn't we already do this? Black, silver, maroon/deep red, blue, vivid tangerine (personally, I was always fond of cerulean in the crayon box when I was a wee lass, I called it "cake-icing blue")

Food: YAKISOBA. Chinese food, grilled chicken sandwiches, salad, pizza, cheese, Greek food...

Song: "Lhasa", La'cryma Christi

Book: No really one book, "Childhood's End" by Arthur C. Clarke, I suppose. Though I adore Poe, the "Cask of Amontillado" owns me

Anime: Ayashi no Ceres, Evangelion, Marmalade Boy (SHUT UP!)

Manga: Angel Sanctuary, Ayashi no Ceres (hopefully Count Cain soon)

Season: Winter

Animal: Cats and cephalopods

Movie: Uh, I'm watching my grossly overdue copy of the Final Fantasy Movie...?

TV Show: Judging Amy, The Education of Max Bickford

Bishounen: ::grins::...lessee, Koshi, Keshi, Ueda, Yoshiki, hyde, mana, Gackt, Klaha, Ryutaro...oh wait, fictional? Damn. Anyways, Shosetsu, Tsuoko, Mikado, Mephisto, Argataire, Nova, Fallon, Leviathan, Seiichi, Yuuhi, Suzaku, Rociel, Setsuna, Sephiroth, Kouryuu, Slash, Kinnison, Jowy, Marron, Locke, Shizumaru, Krelian, Shitan, Ramsus, Vincent, Kuja (DA THONG!), Kaworu Nagisa, Nakago, Tomo, Nuriko, Hotohori, Fou-Lu, Aoshi, the list goes ON..and ON...

Computer Game: At the moment, Kartia & Final Fantasy I, want to play Dragon Quest VII

Seiyuu: No preference, really

Time: 2 AM

Feeling: ANGST! Actually, more confusion or hopelessness

People: Eh?

Online People: I refuse to answer this question on basis of forgetting someone.

Current Thing: Chinese food, finals, Koshi, attempting to get into Kansai Gaidai, birthday, learning to drive in super-fun winter conditions, bloody ankle, Soba, singing, Japanese...(not necessarily in that order)

Anime Characters...

Escaflowne: Haven't watched it, but Dilandau XD

Slayers: Again, haven't watched it, but Valgarv

Rurouni Kenshin: Aoshi

Card Captor: The angel guy, I never watch this

Weiß Kreuz: Shiranai >_<

Fushigi Yuugi: Probably Nuriko or Tasuki, Kansai-ben is fun.

Final Fantasy: Sephiroth, I love tragic insane characters.

Evangelion: Kaworu

CLAMP series: Wish, it's cute; though X is nice too, even with the LSD-induced movie...

Yeah, that one's a bit different that my usually survey, haven't had one in quite the while 'round these parts, ne? Ah well, have now.

Things are...not so good around here. I alluded to that a couple entries ago, and it deals with the group of people who I hang out with at school. As mentioned before, I hang around a group of anywhere from 2-6 Japanese student and an American at any given time...the problem lies with the American, who I know think hates my guts and wishes I would die. I've no desire to be a nuisance to anyone, and asked him if he wanted me to leave...he didn't say anything, but...the deal here is I don't want to not hang around my friends, but if I'm not wanted, I'll be happy to leave-far be it from me to force myself on them/him. I wanted to talk to Koshi about this, but he was pretty busy yesterday so I didn't have much of a chance. Touched on it very briefly, but we were kind of yelling at each other (distance children, distance) so I started in nihongo...he just told me that I don't annoy or anger him, and never good. Thanks Koshi...but I don't know what, if any difference, it'll make. If I do remove myself, then I'll be completely alone...

Ah well, on a more positive note, I'm pleased to inform the masses that I did perfectly fine on all my intensely evil Japanese tests that assaulted me yesterday, hooray for studying with Tomo on the bus. Have not yet made my okonomiyaki (which I found out loosely translates into "whatever you like", which explains a lot about okonomiyaki x_x;), but am voyaging to the semi-local Korean food store (it's Korean owned but the food is from all areas of Asia, Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc...) to purchase Kewpie mayonnaise, new okonomiyaki/yakisoba sauce (actually, I cooked some yakisoba last night, using sesame oil instead of my usual vegetable oil; quite tasty, in sooth), dashi (fish stock), bonito flakes, and possibly one of those delicious Korean-import Japanese Lotte frozen melon bars. Some cabbage too, but it's not necessary to purchase it there. I love that place, it's small and the grand majority of the stuff is in Korean (even if it is of different origin, it's the Korean version, such as the Lotte melon bar and my beloved ebi chips)...interesting folk come in, one day this gay hippie couple came in...it was glorious, yaoi in action (plus they were both pretty, proportioned very much to yaoi-manga ways, I love it). They charge you an arm and a leg for soba and udon (but that's not necessary, now that I found out that the food store near Eastern sells cheap BAGS of soba and udon), but overall it's a very nice store. Heck, just to extend my presentation, I may even pick up some of that horrendous sick pink shredded shouga ::cringes::. HOW DO PEOPLE EAT THAT STUFF?! Well, depending on price; twill have fun, I haven't been there in quite the while. I hope my experimental okonomiyaki batch turns out well though, I was going to get Morio's number in case it turns into one of those "I don't know what the hell it is, but it AIN'T okonomiyaki", but I didn't...oh well, I'm sure I'll survive, I'm a relatively decent cook and should be able to handle a Japanese cabbage pancake, right? I would die of joy if they had melon soda or Ramune...yeah, I am definitely missing my Japanese grocery stores (of course, I'm convinced it's utterly impossible to find ANY Mexican food in the entire Kinki region >_<).

Ah, Morio-yes, I learned how to spell the blessed child's name, it's not the insane weirdo "Muriyo" (I forgot that "muryou" means "free" ^^;) I had initially come up with. He's a strange guy (he was talking about how last night he was coughing up blood. When I suggested he see a doctor, he said that everyone has to die...uh, okay), but he's very kind (he wrote the recipe for me and a translation too. I like at the end, "You can put in cheese, corn, mochi, squids, or octopus. That would be nice!" ^_^...he gave me a copy of the Asahi Shimbun, which naturally put me in some utterly non-nihongo-comprehension bliss, felt like normal again. Well, I was able to read some parts-the thing about mad cow disease and this one little musician highlight on a cute 16-year-old singer/guitarist who looks like a young longer-haired Ryuichi Kawamura whose parents named him Juan, after John Lennon. Eh? Okay, I'm not wakatting over here...still, it's appropriate that the last kanji of his first name means "sound", right? I like the kanji combo for music (ongaku): it's got the kanji for sound and the second one can also be used in "tanoshii", meaning "fun", "delightful"...how appropriate ^_^. As much of a pain as kanji are to learn, they're fascinating and literally translating combinations will give you insight into the Japanese way of thought, opinions, etc.

Oh, something I forgot to mention-what do y'all think of the new layout? Yeah, I sort of forgot to speak of that I did it (despite it being rather terribly obvious), I personally think it's an exponential improvement over the nastich Diaryland template, I'm glad I have it. Other colours were available, but black's my favourite hue, dakara...I'm sure you've figured out the top bar thing, and to people I have linked: if haven't figured it out yet, you still are, just play around the link bar. Actually added in some folk, namely Allorien and I plan to add in a couple more, since it doesn't clutter the main page anymore. Yosh! I wish I could do a layout with graphics, but perhaps that will come later...besides, this is fine for now, I truly like it.

Random weirdness occurred yesterday. When my father and I were returning home from an event we attended previously last evening, he called my mom when we're at the gas station. He told me that she said that someone named Hitoki called me. Huh? Uh, no? When I got home I found out it she meant Hiroko, the Mukogawa girl who visited Eastern whom I showed around with Satoko. She's going back on the 18th of this month (this month? Crap, it's already December), so she wanted to hang out a bit before she left. Thus, we're gonna try to get together next Sunday, it ought to be fun. She can speak English but has a little trouble so I told her just to speak Japanese (there are some benefits to understanding even if you personally suck at speaking) and she seemed infinitely more comfortable. I had given her my phone number before she had to go back to the school but she had never called, so I assumed she'd just forgotten me or went back already. Thus, this was a pleasant surprise, I think it'll be fun =D

In other news I neglected to mention, today (yesterday in Japan. This is mentioned as that's where Misha is) is Misha's 18th birthday, so make sure to run over and scrawl something of the congratulatory nature in her guestbook. I called her and as usual we babbled on about pretty much nothing, which is fun in itself (our phone conversations in the US were marathons of absolute JACK, it was great); I love hearing about everything that's going on there from her herself. She's going to try to visit Higashi, so we'll so sort of close encounters of the ryuugakusei kind will occur, shall we?

You know what? I have the biggest craving in the universe for Chinese food, I truly do. So, now I'm going to go dually shopping for winter clothes (you'd think I'd have had the sense to have a suitable collection after living here for nearly...5 years, it'll be so around mid-month), which I'm sorely lacking in, as well as finding Chinese food. Mata minna, check back if you want because this is going to be one of those annoying days where I just add and add and add more...
